Research from the US has indicated that the average return to a region for film and television production is at least 2.8 times the expenditure.

For a one-hour drama series with 12 shows, for example, the average US cost would be $26,800,000 with the economic output estimated at $76,490,000, delivering an approximate ROI of 285%

The below table outlines the potential returns from Central Coast Studios’ first 5 years of operation.

**Based upon existing Federal funding incentives it is expected that projects under $15million are less likely to consider Australia than projects with budget over $15million (spend in Australia). This is likely to change as this Federal Tax Incentive is under review at present and is likely to include television production with lower budgets in the near future.

Creating Thousands of Jobs & Supporting Local Business

The Film, Television, Music and Gaming industries revolve primarily around contractors and short-term contracts that are managed by various production companies. Therefore, these Production Companies may employ from 500 – 2000 people for a specific production, or we may have seven different productions underway at the same time each having their own staff or contractors.

The latest figures indicate that the Central Coast has around 1000 film and television professionals who mostly travel to other regions for work. Therefore, we will have some locals who will fit into the productions, but many people will come from Sydney and elsewhere until skills and trust have been built with the locals. Gold Coast studios boast that their productions employ as many as 80% locals. This will take time for us to grow. In the meantime, we will enjoy the benefits of a spike in hospitality and the need for better accommodation.

Initially, six full-time staff will be hired under the banner of CCS. Their jobs will be to provide a steady stream of projects for CCS, to create a plan to make sure we have everything ready for each production and then to ensure once our guests arrive, a smooth positive experience with everything and everyone. We will assist in coordinating the hundreds of contractors and thousands of suppliers who will work at the studios under the banner of various Production Companies whether Domestic or International. We will create together harmoniously and endeavour to make them feel at home.

The other major area of opportunity will be the number of local suppliers utilised on every production. Federal Arts Minister Mitch Fifield said Marvel's Shang-Chi would bring in 4700 new Australian jobs, 1200 local businesses would benefit – just for one production. Central Coast Studios therefore has the potential to generate thousands of jobs for Australians as well as support thousands of local businesses each year.

Securing this latest production will bring over $150 million of new international investment, create 4700 new Australian jobs and use the services of around 1200 local businesses

Educational Benefits

The Studio’s long-term future is around education. We want to harness opportunities for youth and those who want to transition into Film, Television and Gaming. To do this we have partnered with leading educators who will equip their students with the skills they need and create a pathway into their chosen field. Familiarity with the precint and a hands-on education experience will give these local students a competitive edge. By partnering with us, they will gain the opportunities for the experience they need to transition into the workforce. Central Coast Studios will partner with educators who have the ability to equip our future innovators in Production, Directing and Acting.
